Tuesday Topic: Prayer requests

I don't have any fresh questions queued, we haven't done this for a while, and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with life, so: How can we pray for each other today? When you read the comments, please be sure to take a few minutes to pray. In a month, I'll ask about answers to prayers....

(If you have a “Tuesday Topic” question, please email it to me at fylliska@gmail.com. Provide your blog address if you would like to be linked to, or specify if you would like to remain anonymous. Thanks!)

  1. Before I give my prayer request, I would like to say that this blog has been an answer to prayer for me. My family and I are in preparation for departure to the field. During this time my husband and I are having to live apart whilst he completes some training. Because of this I have been feeling disconnected and a bit overwhelmed with looking after 3 small kids by myself. This site has provided me with a sense of community and good things on which I can focus my mind. So Thankyou to everyone who has posted. My prayer request is that my husband and I grow together in our calling during this time of physical separation.

  2. Phyllis, I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling overwhelmed. I will definitely be praying for you and know that all of us can prayer heart-felt prayers knowing what it is to be in that place! And Mrs. Walmsley (sorry I don't know your first name!), I am praying for you, too, as you have to live apart from your husband. That sounds so hard but I am praying that God would provide unexpected blessings for both you and your kids through it.

Today I am also dealing with sad feelings about the reality of living thousands of miles away from loved ones. Some good friends from the States just left this afternoon after spending the week with us and though I was very sad to see them go (felt even more emotional about it than I expected since I've done this so many times), the hard feelings were all the worse as my children literally sobbed for a half an hour after they left. There really is nothing to do to make this pain go away, and it becomes more and more of a reality as our kids get older. So, I don't know what I need prayer for really. Maybe just for comfort and perspective for all of us about the reason we've chosen a life that includes this pain? Thanks!

  3. Oh Ashley, my heart goes out to you. I know what that is like... My kids struggle with missing family more now that they are older. I'm praying for you now.

My prayer request is for God's grace for a Thanksgiving Tea I'm having in my home for girls in our English Club. Friends and I will prepare traditional desserts, and I will give a short talk about Thanksgiving traditions, and also about the importance of being thankful today. Our guests will be Mslms. I feel I have little time to prepare...

  4. Praying for each request, and especially relating to Ashley's request about the sadness of saying goodbye. I asked some much older lifetime missionaries how they dealt with all the goodbyes, and they said you just have to let yourself feel sad, otherwise you get bitter or hard. I'm so glad that there will be no more sadness in heaven! And what joy there will be to see those who God has used our lives to touch! We feel the deep pain of goodbyes, in hopes that those we are serving will be reconciled to God. What a worthy sacrifice!

We're waiting to hear from the Lord on some big issues, and so my prayer request is for patience and wisdom while we wait.

  5. Thank you so much for your prayers, friends! It is such a comfort to know that there are so many of you dear women who can all relate and that we can all support one another in prayer and understanding. I am praying for each of your requests, and also generally for the rest of the women here in our community who have needs but haven't shared them here. May God bless each one of you!

  6. We are in the early stages of a possible mission to PNG. All happened this weekend really, my husband talking to MAF guy, who 5 mins later gets a job advert for a job exactly what my husband is looking for. Spoken to the mission big cheese, as he was also at the event Saturday night, then again at the church service Sunday, and now I am frantically searching for home-schooling websites to give me some indication of whether I can pull off the role of 'home educator' which in the past, just the mention of it has given me cold sweats.
Meeting mission big cheese again Saturday night. Then from there a trip to PNG to see if we can do it.
When the Holy Spirit stirs, it's amazing what can happen. Trying hard to be excited and realistic all at the same time. Open to what God has for us, yet also realising that sometimes even if something is good, that it may not be good for us.
Praying for you Phyllis, Walmsley Family, Ashley and Olive Tree.
